Nothing is so contagious as an example. We never do great good or great evil without bringing about more of the same on the part of others. – Francois de La Rochefoucauld
In times of stress, crisis, uncertainty or despair it’s very easy to turn inward so much that we forget how our behavior rubs off onto others. It’s never able to be maintained 100% of the time, however I believe we truly are “the change we want to see in the world”. We have the ability to positively or negatively impact every interaction.
If you want the best out of your coworkers, demand the best from yourself first and show an exceptional product every time.
If you want your children to have good manners, exhibit that in every interaction with or around them.
If you want a partner who is loving and respectful, be that partner toward them first.
I know – this all seems so common sense and we’ve all heard these things 1000 times over, however it never hurts to be reminded. We have to be willing to constantly re-evaluate our behavior and course correct as needed. We have to be willing to admit where we’re falling short and decide if we want to set that example for someone else, or not. In the coming week, what will you “model” for the world. What example will you set for the interactions to come?
