You can read the original post (which was written after my 1 year fit-aversary) here – but I figured that since it’s been over 2 years now, so I should probably update.
*TRIGGER WARNING* – If you are someone who is triggered by weight loss, numbers, or any other type of weight loss/gain then you should stop reading now.
Mind you, also, this is just MY story and it’s seriously so specific to ME. I don’t back anything I do or have done by any standard but my own, and I don’t think it’s for everyone else to try. Always consult your physician and fitness/nutrition professionals regarding your health.
Let’s get into it…
Day 0 – April 25, 2018
This fateful day was when I saw a photo of myself (taken just a couple days prior) and I was appalled, to say the least. I saw a version of myself that I had refused to notice before and now I couldn’t un-see it.
Height: 5′ 2″
Weight: Approximately 148 lbs
Body Fat %: Roughly (a whopping) 38%
Visceral fat levels that were well into the range of dangerous (like 11-ish+) & A1C (blood sugar) levels that into the low range of Type 2 Diabetes. While I had known for some time that my diabetes was real, it didn’t help me much to feel better about the situation as whole – in fact it made me angry and sad.
April – June 2018

It’s now over another year since my “1 year” anniversary of changing my lifestyle and now here’s where we are at:
August 6, 2020
Height: 5′ 2″
Weight: Approximately 137 lbs
Body Fat %: Roughly 29%
Visceral fat levels decreased and now out of the range of dangerous (between 7-9 typically) & A1C (blood sugar) levels that are better managed for my Type 2 Diabetes, with once daily medication (metformin).

My journey is still ongoing and my goals haven’t stopped. Earlier this year I did something I NEVER thought I would and signed up for a half marathon – but it got cancelled due to COVID, but I still started to jog, and learned to like it (a little) more than I used to. I also did a 5-hour Peloton ride (Haleakala challenge) and would NEVER have thought I could do that two years ago! I am more interested in eating well, gaining muscle and pushing my physical limits than I am “looking thin” and being sick from hunger. I have a much better relationship with myself, food and my mental/emotional health.
I still eat junk sometimes, but now it’s a lot more rare. I still drink alcohol and enjoy a “treat” meal, but now it’s more like 1-2 times a week instead of every day. I still skip workouts from time to time, but now it’s because I LISTEN to my body and feel when it’s tired and give it love and appreciation for all it does FOR me.
Even if it’s just a small action or change – make it today and keep going!
